A renovation project to a suburban house. The existing extension is retained but the interior layout of the house is reconfigured to create a series of connecting living spaces.

At first floor, alterations are made that add a master ensuite, new family bathroom and study within the existing footprint of the plan. To the rear garden, a series of new piers are formed and tied, deepening the southern elevation and unifying this. Behind this deep brick wall, a series of linear rooflights activate a play of light and shadow across the day. The space of the kitchen and utility areas are sunken to meet the ground level outside and the dining area opens to a brick platform terrace to which a pergola for growing and shading will be added in time.
