Cineál was shortlisted for the KinShip EcoLab design competition Cork in 2022. The proposal sought to carve a room in the landscape, using sustainable means of making a place to gather through public participation.

The design was intentionally open-ended so that through a series of workshops in gardening, furniture, making, weaving, and drawing the final iteration of the place would be constructed from a collective process of thought and making. As such, over time with the input of each event the garden and gathering place would evolve and grows into the space of the park in away that is sensitive to biodiversity and natural habitat.

The proposal was designed in collaboration with furniture designer Johnny Blayney, landscape designer Rachel Gallagher, ecologist Jessica Beresford and timber craftsperson Alan Meredith.
